May 27, 2017
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar –also praised as the little master and master blaster – has scored more centuries in One Day International [ODI] and Test formats of Cricket. His journey of 100s began quite a later in his career but he continuously made the centuries once he kicked off. Sachin Tendulkar has scored 100 centuries in ODI and test cricket being 49 in the former and 51 in latter formats. He is the only batsman to have this honor. Further, he has waved his bat –after making centuries – against all teams that have permanent ODI status in International Cricket Council (ICC). Furthermore, Tendulkar is the first cricketer who scored 200 runs in ODI. His number of 100s would have been much higher had he not been dismissed 18 being the victim of nervous 90s. 33 of his 49 ODI centuries have successfully contributed in India’s victory over the rival teams.
We are going to provide the complete list of his 49 ODI centuries with necessary details.
9. 110 off 138 Against Sri Lanka in Colombo
Tendulkar made his 9th ODI century exactly in the stadium where he started his journey of ODI 100s i.e. R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo during the Singer World Series when Sachin scored 110 off 138 on August 28, 1996. This match, however, differed at least in three aspects from the first one. Firstly, the rival in this match was Sri Lanka instead of Australia and secondly India could not win this time and this was third occasion where Tendulkar’s century went wasted. Thirdly, Tendulkar was the captain of the Indian team this time and this was his first century as a captain.
